Time to spice things up:

Before freezing your ice cream you have the option of adding a bit of flavour. You could add chocolate chips, or any other type of chocolate. Or, you could add food colouring/essences. You can use whatever's lying around the house. For example, for my "mint" ice cream (below/right), I used an aero bar that had been lying in the press gathering dust since god knows when. All I did was finely chop it, add to the mixture, and add some green food colouring I used to make Christmas Cakes, 'Et VoilĂ ' It really is just about getting creative and having fun.

Note: When adding other solids to the ice cream mixture, be sure to mix your ice cream 2 hours after freezing to make sure all the good stuff doesn't sink to the bottom.
